Bloom's Taxonomy
It may seem redundant to mention Bloom's Taxonomy as part of a facilitator's toolkit given its importance and prevalence, but for me, it's a huge reminder of just how important writing good objectives can be. The great thing about Bloom's Taxonomy is that it provides a number of verbs broken down by the type of action required by the learner, and I've used it in every course I've taken...and in every course I've revised for my job.

When I took the position as facilitator at my current company, I didn't think anything of the prevalence of the word 'understand' in the learning objectives for our content. It was everywhere. It wasn't until I started taking classes that I realized that there's no way for a facilitator to force understanding on his or her learners, and it also doesn't give a fair description of just what they'll know or be able to perform once classes are done.
I've included a version of Bloom's Taxonomy in my toolkit so I always have access to a great list of verbs for writing objectives, and so that I never fall back on using 'understand' in any kind of objectives ever again.
